About Me

Hi, I’m Ryan Hicks.

I help individuals & Relationships overcome blocks to connection. I also provide Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.

I am here to help you engage with your emotions, deepen intimacy, explore sexuality, and live a connected live; whether this is in individual or relationship therapy.

I also provide Ketamine- Assisted Psychotherapy to help you expand your outlook and approach your struggles in new ways.

I practice in the Cap Hill neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. I provide “regular” talk therapy and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy to individuals, couples and groups.

Why choose to work with me?

I believe that the key to interacting with our struggles is presence. We all avoid pain discomfort by instinct, but we lose some connection with our thoughts and emotions when we do this. We need those experiences to connect & bond with others though!

My advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy has given me the skill set to help you slow down and engage with your emotions instead of feeling at this mercy of them. I also integrate Mindfulness, hypnosis-informed interventions, and Neurolinguistic techniques to help you deepen and understand your emotions.

I enjoy helping people through disconnection or conflict in their relationships or disconnection from themselves. I am here to help restore intimacy in your relationships, navigate changes in your relationship dynamic, explore sexuality/kink/fetish, explore identity, overcome trauma, and develop a present and engaged lifestyle.

“When awareness is brought to an emotion, power is brought to your life.”

— Tara Meyer Robson

 My Story

I came to therapy because I felt the pull to be a “helper” of some kind to people. My own growth and change throughout life has all come from some form of engaging with my emotions & thoughts in a new way. Whether in talk therapy or in Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, I get to help clients develop the presence and engaged way of living that I have found so impactful.

When I’m not doing therapy, you can find me spending time with my partner, reading, skateboarding, hiking, playing music, or rock climbing.

The boring stuff.

I have a Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. In addition to my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, I have sought out additional trainings in sexual issues, non-traditional relationship structures, and kink/fetish.

I went through my training to provide Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy at Polaris Insight Center.

I am currently an Affiliate Faculty at Regis University and a Clinical Supervisor at the University of Colorado-Denver. I have served in the past as a Visiting Instructor at Naropa University and a Clinical Supervisor at Denver Family Institute. My past work experience prior to being in private practice includes:

Outpatient community mental health, in-home family preservation, and time as a crisis evaluator.
